Shameless pitch for cool things to buy from friends and family

Let’s be honest: Mike and I are some talented folks, in our own humble opinions anyway. And as talented folks, we like to surround ourselves with other talented folks. It’s just how we roll.

So in the past few days, we got new and exciting info about two new and exciting projects in the arts that you as consumers can buy. And since we’re so proud of the makers of these fine products, as well as the quality of the products ourselves, we’re giving them a plug here. Wow, I’m even kinda sounding like a sales person. Who knew???

For those of you who don’t know, my dad, Jack, is literally a Jack-of-all-trades. He does woodworking, he makes frames, he cuts mats, he teaches photography at the local community school, and he takes a mighty fine picture himself. He was asked to submit photos to the Emergency Foodshelf Network in Minnesota for their fundraising notecards called “Artwork for Tummies”. One of his photos was selected, and a card with the photo on it can be purchased here.

His info is:
Artist: Jack Jaglo#022
Title: Floured Arches.

I met my friend Sarah Schmelling in Denmark in 1991. Unlike me, she did not become a science geek but instead became a literature/writing geek. She’s done all kinds of writing on all kinds of things and has a book coming out soon!  It’s called ‘Ophelia Joined the Group Maidens Who Don’t Float: Classic Lit Signs on to Facebook’. It’s basically taking the classics and writing them up as if they were Facebook updates. She published Hamlet: Facebook News Feed Edition on McSweeney’s Internet Tendency. More info about Sarah and her upcoming book – including how to preorder it – can be found at http://maidenswhodontfloat.com/.
